Making Your Home a Haven Monday: Refresher Series--Tackle the Bathrooms!

1.Refresh your spirit.

Crystal has encouraged us to pick out a verse, and I chose:

"The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe."

Proverbs 18:10

I love this verse. Is it not the truth. Just calling out to the Lord can give you so much strength and make you feel so safe. I love the Lord with all my heart and want to live my life to serve him.

2. Take Time to Plan

To do:

Laundry from weekend

Dust the living room

Put up China in China cabinet

For dinner I plan on making Chicken Noodle soup with homemade bread.

3.Do something: Bathrooms

my bathrooms are pretty bad from the weekend, they need a good scrubbing. I will update with pictures soon.

It has taken me longer than usual today to post pictures because this morning around 9 am my sister called me and told me she went to the doctor and they could not get a heartbeat on her baby. She is suppose to be 11 1/2 weeks pregnant, but the baby measured way too big. She said she could tell right away something was wrong because it looked like a blob and not a baby. The doctor tried for a while but could not get a heartbeat. I know all to well what she is going through but there are no words I could say to her. Everyone please keep her in her prayers, tomorrow she is going in for a d & c.

Making your Home a Haven monday~Laundry

Today's Challenge at Crystal's blog :

1) Refresh Your Spirit (5 minutes)

Three things I am thankful for:
1.My salvation, without Jesus Christ I would be no where.
2.My family~my husband is my rock and the best man in the world. My children are such a blessing from the lord, and all of my other extended family.
3.My home~God has blessed us with all are needs.

STOP: Is your morning routine done? Don't move on to #2 unless it is!

2) Take Time to Plan (5 minutes)
My to do list:
-read God's word
-detail clean my room
-laundry
-mail off packages and bills
-get the house clean

For breakfast we are having cereal
For lunch we are having peanut butter and jelly sandwiches
For dinner we are having spaghetti, garlic bread, salad, with boiled eggs

3) Do Something! (15 minutes or so)

"Today we're going to focus on the laundry and laundry room. Light a candle, put on your apron, turn on some uplifting music, and get busy!

Your goal by the end of today is to have all of your laundry finished, folded, and put away. I'm usually behind on the laundry on Monday mornings as I rarely run much laundry over the weekends so this will be a great project for me to tackle!

For those of you with a laundry room or laundry area, take some time to organize and clean up this area. Wipe down your washer and dryer, check for socks and other articles of clothing behind and on the sides of your washer and dryer, and clean out your dryer lint." (Crystal's words)

What a perfect day for this my cousin Felicia gave birth to her little girl Friday and I was in Georgia all weekend, so my laundry is really behind. So I will take a picture of before and update with pictures of after later.

___________________________________________________________________________________________

It took me longer than usual because my dryer would not dry my clothes I had to dry loads 2-3 times to get them dry. I sure do hope my dryer is not giving out on me, I believe it is a heating element. Oh well, I still have a load in the washer and dryer but then I am done for the day. I hope everyone else had a great day.

MAKING YOUR HOME A HAVEN

TODAY AT BIBLICAL WOMANHOOD CRYSTAL CHALLENGES US TO SPEND 10 MINUTES ON OUR LIVING ROOM. THAT IS A GOOD CHOICE BECAUSE MY SISTER IS HERE FOR A FEW DAYS AND WE KIND OF JUST BROUGHT EVERYTHING TO THE LIVING ROOM A THROUGH IT IN THE FLOOR. SO I AM GOING TO WORK ON THAT NOW AND WILL HAVE PICTURES UP IN JUST A MOMENT. I HOPE EVERYONE HAS A WONDERFUL DAY. BLESSINGS DELILAH

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
HERE YOU CAN SEE BRYSON AND MY NEPHEW ETHAN PLAYING ON THE FLOOR. THEY ARE SO SWEET AND I AM SO GLAD I GET TO SPEND THE NEXT FEW DAYS WITH DEE DEE AND ETHAN.
ANOTHER ANGLE OF BEFORE.
THE LAST OF ANGLE OF THE LIVING ROOM
AFTER PICTURES MUCH BETTER
WELL NOW THAT IS DONE I STILL HAVE LAUNDRY AND THE REST OF THE HOUSE. IT SO NICE TO HAVE A CLEAN HOUSE. I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER WHEN THERE IS NO CLUTTER.
So much to do and pictures
First off I am so excited, I found my camera, so I will put some pictures of our new home up within the next week. I have still got tons of unpacking to do, but I am trying very hard to get it done before Saturday, because we are having a neighborhood garage sale. I have lots to get rid of, because when we packed we just basically through everything in boxes. I got rid of a some stuff when I was packing, but we still have way too much stuff.
Hopefully Hannah will be done with school by Friday. I know it has taken us longer, but we did not get her curriculum until the middle of October. As soon as she is done I am listing all the teacher's books and the books that are still usable on eBay. I have Bryson's listed on there now. The good news is that I already have their books for next year. I used the Kindergarten Kit from Christian Liberty Press for Bryson and for Hannah I used some Christian Liberty Press, but Abeka for Math, Science, and Language. I got a really good deal, because vision forum sent me a coupon code and plus I got an additional discount for the early Spring sale, So I end up spending around $200 for both. To me that is a good deal because last year, I tried to do the dvd program from Abeka and it was a waste of money. We didn't even use it but for a month. I ended up spending over $1000 just for Hannah.
Below are some pictures of the kids doing their school work before we moved. The one of Haley and Bryson praying is so cute. We always pray before we do school. There are some of Hannah with her birthday cake, but excuse the mess in the background, that was the day before we moved. Have a blessed day, Delilah
Making Your Home a Haven Monday: Getting Your Home Back in Order
Today over at Crystal's blog she wants us to do a two hour clean up to get our house back in order. I can't take any pictures because my camera is in my husband's car, so if he comes home for lunch I might take some this evening. Crystal also says before we get started we need to spend some time in God's word. Then we need to get dressed from head to toe. Then she gives this list:
And now you're ready to roll...
1. Put on an apron, turn on some uplifting music, light a candle, and start a load of laundry.
2. Go to the kitchen sink and wash, dry, and put away the dishes. Then, shine the sink (ala FlyLady!) and wipe down the counter tops. Try to get this completely finished in 30 minutes or less.
3. Set the timer for 15 minutes and briskly go through the house and pick up as many items as you can which are out of place and return them to their proper places (and if it's trash, throw it out!).
4. Switch the laundry in your washer to your dryer or clothesline and start another load of laundry.
5. Take some all-purpose cleaner and a few rags and go quickly spray and wipe down all the bathrooms. Remember, this is just a simple spray and wipe of your bathrooms which should only take five minutes maximum per bathroom. Save the heavy-duty cleaning for later!
6. Do a quick sweep and mop of your kitchen and bathroom floors if they need this (and if your home is anything like our home, they will need this!).
7. Vacuum the main living areas of your home--don't worry about moving furniture or going over every inch of carpet, just make sure and hit the main traffic areas.
8. Pull the laundry out of the dryer and fold and put it away. Switch the laundry from the washer to the dryer, and start another load in the washer if you still have more laundry to do.
You're done! Make a pot of tea or coffee and put your feet up for a few moments. Way to go! Your whole family will enjoy the fruits of you labors.
This is my to do list:
~ Read Psalms 55
~ Start and finish laundry(I have about 4 loads from the weekend)
~ Make all beds.
~ Get caught up on school (We got behind because we have been house hunting)
~ Give my bathroom a good cleaning.
~ Put all dishes away from the dishwasher and start a new load.
~ Sweep and mop the Kitchen.
~ Vacuum the entire house.
~ Dust the living room.
~ Take Bryson to ball practice.
~ Relax and enjoy my family.
This is my to do list. As you can see I have not posted in a long time. That is because my husband has got a promotion and we are moving out of state, so I have been busy trying to get this house sold and look for a new one. So please keep us in your prayers. I hope everyone has a blessed day.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I haven't got everything done just yet but I had to update. I was cleaning the kitchen after dinner and I had put some baskets in the living room to fold and when I walked in there Haley was folding the clothes. I did not ask her to, she just started doing it. I have to say she is a really good folder to just have turned 3 in January. I am so proud of her. I will update later.

Making Your Home a Haven Monday: Pick a Pile!

Today on Crystal's blog, she wants us to pick a pile, and organize it. I picked my computer desk, I have been wanting to do it for about 2 weeks and have kept putting it off. I know some of you who have seen all my cleaning lately must think my house is a mess, well that is partly true. Lately I have been doing a lot of organizing but I have a bad habit of getting the house perfectly clean and then not keeping it up. My desk was cleaned and organized in January, but I kept putting it off and everyone kept piling it up. So far, since I have started "making your home a haven," everything I have cleaned has stayed that way. Last week I organized all my kitchen cabinets because I got new cookware, and let me tell you it is so nice to need something and know exactly where it is. I have prayed that God would let me be more organized and I believe that "Making your Home a Haven" was what I was looking for. Now I am more accountable to a lot more people(who ever views my blog, even if it is just one or two people). Not to mention my husband can not stand a messy and disorganized house.

Crystal also wants to know any tips for keeping piles to a minimal. My suggestion would be as soon as a bill comes in pay it, and file it, and throw away/recycle unnecessary papers.

Making Your Home a Haven Monday: Closet Clean-Up

Today at Crystal's blog we are to pick out a closet and unclutter it. I chose Haley's closet(I actually cleaned out Hannah and Bryson's last week) it is not as bad as it looks I just need to organize the clothes that has fallen on the floor and get rid of some of the clothes she has out grown. I will post the after pictures later this evening.

_________________________________________________________________________________________

I got done a little bit earlier today. It really didn't take that long. First I pulled everything out and then I organized the clothes and got rid of outgrown and unwanted clothes. I put all the dresses together, then all the outfits together, and all the sweaters together. I put all the long sleeve cotton shirts in her drawer(to save room). I put all the board games in top of Bryson's closet and all her coats in his closet as well, because his is 3 times the size of hers. I still have a lot to do today. I have laundry from the weekend and my kithchen needs a good cleaning as well. I hope everyone has a blessed day.

Making Your Home a Haven Monday: Tackle the Laundry

I am joining crystal's challenge today on Making your home a haven. Today it is laundry. I am way behind on laundry(we were not at home all weekend). I would love to get at least 5 loads of laundry cleaned and put away. But to top it off I am also going to clean my laundry room it is a pit. I will post the before picture now and later this evening I will post the after picture.

I really struggle keeping up with laundry. I don't mind doing it or even folding it but I despise putting it away. My goal is to get it caught up and to wash, fold, and put it away before I do another load. Alot of times I wash all the laundry up but avoid folding it because I don't want to put it away. But now that Hannah is older maybe she can help me put up.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________

After many many hours all the laundry is DONE!!!! I even managed to wash some rugs as well. My laundry room looks so much better and I threw away unwanted items. Now my goal is to do one load a day maybe even 2.

Cleaning out clutter!!!

I have been so busy cleaning out clutter. My basement is horrific. There is so much stuff in this house it is ridiculous. We are having a yard sale tomorrow and I would love to get rid of 75% of our stuff. Some of you may think that is a lot but if you only seen how much we had, you would agree. Plus we need the extra cash for Christmas. Well I hope everyone has a great weekend.
